I was living in Boston in 2004 when the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court issued a ruling that opened the door for making same sex marriage legal in the Commonwealth. It was sort of a second “shot heard round the world,” and author Marc Solomon was on the scene then and over the next ten years, helping craft legislation state by state, and finally nationally, guaranteeing the freedom to marry.
